Residential Management Group (RMG), part of Places for People, and the UK’s second largest property management company, has appointed Justin Herbert as its new Managing Director, as founding director Hugh McGeever retires after 20 years in the role.
Justin, who has been transitioning into the MD role in recent months supported by Hugh, has been with RMG in senior positions for the last 17 years mainly as Operations Director.
Justin has driven significant success during his time at RMG, including doubling the business in the North of England and Scotland and leading major improvements to client and customer service, most notably through the introduction of a centralised customer service centre.
RMG is part of Places for People Group, and looks after more than 144,000 homes across the UK, making it one of the largest property management companies in the country. This includes managing Places for People’s leasehold properties throughout England and Scotland, as well as thousands more for other clients in large urban developments, rural communities, city centres and specialist housing schemes.
Justin Herbert, Managing Director of RMG, said: “It’s a real privilege to be stepping into this role and leading RMG. I’m really grateful to Hugh for his many years of leadership and I’m looking forward to building on his great legacy.
“We now manage more than 144,000 homes with a sizeable pipeline of secured contracts across the UK and I look forward to growing our portfolio further. As well as managing many Places for People communities, we’re proud to work with the most of the UK’s leading national and regional housebuilders, institutional landlords, and hundreds of resident-controlled management companies to ensure buildings and neighbourhoods are maintained to the standard people deserve.”
Hugh McGeever, former Managing Director of RMG, said: “The last 20 have been incredibly rewarding and I’d like to thank all of my colleagues for their hard work, dedication and passion. Their commitment and focus on supporting our fantastic clients and customers has made leading the company such a pleasure.
“I’m delighted personally that Justin has been appointed to the role, but it’s also great news for RMG and its customers. Justin has been a huge part of RMG’s growth and success throughout almost all of my 20 years here and he has a genuine passion for putting our clients and customers at the heart of what we do.”
Greg Reed, Chief Executive Officer at Places for People, said: “First, I’d like to thank Hugh for the amazing job he has done in leading RMG over the last 20 years. His role in the growth of the business and its merger into Places for People has been game-changing and he retires leaving RMG in a very strong position.
“I’m delighted to welcome Justin to the role of MD after a thorough recruitment process. No one is better placed than Justin to build on the legacy Hugh leaves behind and indeed the 17 years of hard work he has put in himself. I really look forward to working with Justin and RMG so together, we can help communities thrive.”
